I'm 18 weeks pregnant and sometimes I feel a thin white watery discharge which quantity wise is very less but leaves my panty wet. It occurs once or twice a day.I'm bit confused whether it is the normal discharge or I'm leaking Amniotic fluid. I spoke to the nurse but she is not ready to agree that the discharge is thin ,even when I pass out my urine that time also I see a white thin discharge along with urine. From last 2-3 days even I'm having itching and irritation in my vaginal area for which my nurse told me to use Monistat but I'm not getting any relief from it... please suggest what is that white thin discharge?? (sorry for being so specific) . I can feel my baby move which gives me a kind of assurance that my baby is fine.

Dear Heartbeat,

A white discharge is usually not significant, so give the monistat a chance to work. The itching is not from the fluid as you fear. But, to reassure yourself, see your doctor as soon as possible because your emotional state is just as important as your physical state.

Good luck and keep us posted.

It sounds like you have a yeast infection, which is common in pregnancy.

Is there an odor to the discharge?

No as such there is no odor but the whole area is itching and irritating and feels like inflammated. How to differentiate between leukorrhea and Amniotic fluid??

It is a yeast infection. Leukorrhea is very rarely itchy. Amniotic fluid is never itchy.

Your nurse prescribed Monostat as it is a yeast infection. Nothing to really be concerned about unless you do not follow the nurse/doctor's orders regarding the yeast infection.
