Ok. My hair is a light golden brown. It's been this way since I last dyed it, which was about a year ago. Now I just recently got my hair dyed 4 days ago because I have a birthday coming up, and you know I wanted to look good. I wanted it to just be a little darker then I had it. However I wasn't thinking this dark! I picked the color; dark golden brown, (which looked nice in the book). I wasn't expecting it to come out this dark, and I'm assuming because my hair was so light that's why it came out this way. Overall, I HATE IT!! I want to fix this ASAP because I can't stand looking at myself any longer. I been washing my hair everyday since, and I still have a little bit of dye coming out. I mean I know I have to wait a couple weeks until I re-dye it again, but I'm saying if I just keep washing my hair everyday, will it soon eventually fade lighter? I mean I did just get it done 4 days ago but again it's just so dark, it looks black. I can't wait, I need to fix this NOW. So how long should I wait until I re-dye it again? Or is there anything I can do to lighten it up with out re-dying it?

Thanks!

Don't redye it. I had this same thing happen to me I had blonde hair and dyed it Chocolate brown, and it came out black, after about 2 weeks of washing it *shampoo and conditioner* it lightened up a lot. Don't use the conditioner the dye comes with because, that has a little bit of dye in there which keeps the color in, get pantene pro v for blonde hair or light brown hair and you should see your hair get lighter within a week or two, try to get in the sun a lot as well! :] I dye my hair all the time I've had too much happen, if it doesn't work for your hair cause everyone's hair is different go to a hair stylist and ask what you should do with your type of hair to make it lighter without redying it :]

You can also redye your hair whenever like I said I dye mine all the time , you can redye it whenever, I would recommend waiting at least a week before so if it doesn't lighten up :]

Hmm. In that situation, If you were happy with your color but wanted a color that you didn't want to commit to, I would have a simple dark blonde semi-perm, that would have taken away some of the warmth and left it the same color. I would have left it on a little less time than directed to. Unless you really did want darker, but it doesn't look like you really did.

Since you need it lighter right away, and do not want a salon (?) there is a solution. I will give you the way that sounds like you want, and I hope it is what you want. It might be that you thought your hair was just a little too golden. If so, get a perm color in equal gold and neutral parts of dark blonde OR light brown, depending on if you want it back to the same, or a little darker (this whole thing should especially work if "light brown" is close to your natural color level). Or, leave this on for a little less time if you are using light browns. You may see little or not difference at all. DOn't worry, you are still changing the tone. Almost immediately ("listen" to your hair to see if healthy) even 24 hours later, use a semi perm and continue usage until you are happy with lighter regrowth from the roots. I would recommend trying a lightest golden brown in clairol naturalinstincts or a semi perm equal mixture of light golden brown with light neutral brown. MAtch colors to the perm you used. Don't leave in hair longer than directed. Keep this up about every three weeks as long as you are not happy with your base. You will have a translucent, lighter look. Good luck
