I have a question when I had my son I had a classical c-section done and I can no longer have a baby vaginanl well I'm a 7 weeks pregnant and they told me I have to get a c-section also they don't want me to go in to labor so they said at 37 weeks they are doing an amninocentesis to see if the babies lungs are mature I was just wondering how it is done and how long to get the results because my sises b-day is around the time they will be doing one and that would be nice to get the c-section on her b-day??

The amnio will be done with a needle guided by ultrasound. They will draw off some amniotic fluid to determine the maturity of the lungs. For this purpose only it takes only a few hours to get the results (if you are in a good hospital), others may take a couple of days.

Why can you not have a vaginal birth?
I had a c section with my son 6 years ago then two years ago I had a v bac and will hopefully be able to with my third pregnancy

I can't because they had to cut me at the top of the uterus and they are high chances of it rupturing because of how they did the c-section

V-bacs are contraindicated these days.
Due to scar tissue and possible abruptia etc, V-bacs are not done as much as in the past.

Oh Ok mine was done at the bikini line, they were a little iffy about it and didn't want to give me any meds because of the chances of it rupturing, but I got through it, well I hopew everything goes good for you.

I had an amnio at 35 weeks to see if lungs were developed because I had preeclampsia.
It put me into labor, so there are risks having it done that far along. My daughter's screech at birth told me her lungs were fine. The lung test came back when she was about 12 hours old.

Yes, there are risks to an amnio. No doubt about it. You will have to sign a consent form to have it done.
Risks include, but are not limited to, preterm labor and/or miscarriage. Please discuss it in depth with your doctor prior to having it done.

I will tell you that I looked like an Oven Stuffer Roaster Chicken. The amnio thing has a white plastic holder.
I kept thinking. Stick a fork in me - I'm done. Let's have this baby!

What is v-bac? Is this a shorter way of saying vaginal birth?

V-bac is a term used for a vaginal birth after a C-Section.
