My mom was married in jamaica... she is going through a rough marriage and I was wondering if there was any possibility she is not legally married?? She had her drivers license swiped in a restaurant the other day and it came up her maiden name even though her married name is on her drivers license!!

If the marriage was sanction by the Jamacian Authorities, then the answer is yes, she is legally married

How the DMV shows has nothing to do with being married, it has to do with property changing it, when you get back.

If this was a legal marriage in Jamaica, then it is a binding legal marriage here.
But so what if it is a legal marriage or not, if she is going to leave, leave, you get a divorce. So the idea of getting out, if married or not, is not the piece of paper, it is the reason to leave

Heck, I was just married in the US and our DMV still screwed up my license after I went there in person to have it changed.

If she filed papers there and did it according to their laws, its legal. Her drivers license really has nothing to do with it, sorry.
