Well, it's really a matter of preference. Each one can only allow you to talk to other users using the same service.

What I suggest you do is use a multi-protocol messenger cabable of utilising msn, Yahoo, aim, etc. I use gaim (http://www.gaim.sourceforge.net), which In my opinion provides much better functionality and better features than Yahoo and especially msn.
