I am looking for a job in the trucking industry. Any suggestions on companies that hire with felonies this old?

I don't know of any certain companies. I am aware of some truckers who have been hired who do have a felony conviction in their background, though.
My best suggestion to you is to just get your resume out there and keep filling out the applications. Try to get to know some people who are associated with a trucking company for whom you might want to do work.
Also, concerning your felony - I have never seen it on any job application where you couldn't attach an additional sheet about explanations for yourself. It would be important to a potential employer to know how much you have learned for the better since committing the crime you did. Attaching an additional sheet to an application and what you provide in the contents of it, just may be the thing that sets you apart from other applicants and gets you in the door for an interview.

You have to keep applying for jobs, as many jobs as possible. My husband went through the same situation, and thankfully he have two jobs now. As I see from your writing you are in IL, so I'm not familiar with the area. I have to just say that it is tough, they all claim to consider felonies but most don't. Do online research, there are lots of truck jobs online, just make sure that you are straight out with your background. Beating around the bushes will just cause you to hurt your chances more. You will find yourself with questions many times, but just don't give up. Some jobs want you out of parole, that's what they say. Others want 1 or two year experience. I think you might have to accept working in some simple truck driver job with maybe no health insurance as an owner operator using the company's truck. Take whatever opportunity you can get at least for the 2 years experience. You know it is like you are starting all over. So good luck and definately be patient. After the 2 years experience and being out of parole will help you also. Only people that can relay or feel for your situation will truly give you an opportunity. In other words, it will be someone who has either being there, know someone who was there or had family members gone through the ordeal. Best of Luck!

I do not know of any companies off hand. I am in the same situation. My frustration is that I have a violent felony from 1996. Now most Trucking companies claim to accept felonies, up to 3 tickets in 5 years, DUI's, and up to 3 accidents in the last 5 years... BUT, they won't touch me with a perfect driving record because I was convicted of a violent felony almost 14 years ago. Hmnnn. Where do their priorities lie? Safe driving, or what...
