My friend mother-in-law charged with theft under 5000 and she's only tourist here in canada.Sha had $60 worth of merchandize from walmart store.Is there anyway she can set out of this and not have a criminal record?her visa for staying here is until next year,is she got a criminal record and cannot affecting her record as a visitor? If she is convicted she will be asked to leave Canada, I'm surprised she hasn't been asked to leave already.

Why would they allow someone from another country who has committed a crime while visiting to remain here?
