Ok, a little info first. I bought an old JD 111 with a bad motor. I then bought an old Cenex rider with a new motor for the engine. The 111 was originally an 11 hp Briggs and the Cenex had a 12 hp Briggs. The swap was far more involved than first believed, but it is done. My question is this. Checking voltage coming from the generator, I get nothing on DC, but I get about 20 volts AC. Is there a rectifier or something I'm missing? If so, where would I find it on the old Cenex? Or did some motors come with it built in? Can I get one somewhere?

What color and what number of wires is coming out from under the blower housing, where you are testing the volts?

There are two black wires with a white plug coming out from behind the starter/generator. I am getting 20 volts AC on one and 10 volts AC on the other. The wires turned to red and white past the plug toward the mower on the donor mower.

Never mind on the charging problem. I just spliced the ribbed red wire from the stator to the red wire on the tractor and wah lah, 13.79 volts DC at the battery. Now the next question, what do the two black leads from the PTO clutch go to?

Goes to the engagement lever, or push/pull button.

Do they both go there? What color wires should I be looking for?
