Hi, I am having trouble cranking my John Deere L110. It was running fine then in the middle of mowing I had to stop and when I tried to restart I was hearing a clicking sound when the key was turned. I read a response on this site to a similar problem and tried what was recommended. I have replaced the battery and solenoid but I still get the click sound when I turn the key. I then tried using a jumper cable with one end connected to the pos and other end touching the side of solenoid bolt that has a cable going to the starter and nothing happened. The engine did not turn. Does this mean the starting motor had gone bad? The starter is like $200. Any ideas? Thanks

Try turning the engine counterclockwise by hand. Do this on the screen at the top of the engine. The starter may be hung in the engaged position. But if it is making a clicking sound it sounds like the solenoid. But if you jump from the positive post to the battery lead in on the starter (at the bolt on the side) it should have activated the starter.
