I recently contacted someone who has yorkie pups for sale (13 weeks)she lives across seas and the pups are ckc registered and vet checked, shot, and so on, all I have to pay if the shipping fee of $190, is it to big of a risk since she lives over seas? They have official something so they can cross seas without being stopped and a whole bunch of registrations, I don't no $190 seems to good to be true... :confused:

Em You can pretty much can count on it, that it is a scam. Also why would anyone ship a little puppy that far, I am not even sure that they could survive such a long trip in cargo. Also the airlines only allow animals to be shipped during certain months and during certain weather conditions.

Yeah, a scam. You can easily find a Yorkie at a shelter or rescue for less than that. Try your local shelter, Petfinder.com: Adopt a pet and help an animal shelter rescue a puppy or kitten. (http://www.petfinders.org), or a rescue. Please don't buy one from a pet store or backyard breeder.

Finding a good breeder and purchasing a puppy that will make a good pet is very difficult. Almost nobody is intentionally breeding dogs to be nice pets. Most of your so called reputable breeders are breeding for show or something. They may say the puppies they don't keep for their purpose make great pets, but the truth is that the parents were selected for other than health and temperament. Often they keep the puppies in the kennel too long and they miss the important early socialization puppies need to live in the house with people.

Next are the disreputable breeders. They breed any 2 registered dogs they can lay a hold of looking only at the money they can make selling them to pet stores. Pet store puppies are easy to find, but difficult to socialize into nice pets, perhaps difficult to even keep alive. You will not get what you pay for at a pet store.

But I can't get one from a shelter(there never registered or pure-bred I am looking ot show it so I need a akc, ckc, or other registries) they also sent pictures(you can tell it is the same dog because it has the same background in everyone) but the pics look to prefessional. You can show any intact, registered purebred. I highly doubt that even if you ever do get a puppy, and it survives, you will do very well showing it. It is a lot of work and expense to find a show quality dog of any breed.

Sometimes you can find registered pure bred through Pet Finders or a breed rescue. They my require you to have it fixed meaning you can't show it. I would do some reading at American Kennel Club - akc.org (http://www.akc.org) before going ahead with buying any puppy. Have you been attending shows and learning what to look for in a show dog?

Emily, if you cannot physically see the dog and ascertain the quality of it's breeding and temperament prior to purchasing, you will be wasting your money. Both bushg & labman are right. This is a scam. There have been many people here in the U.S. who have been fooled by pictures posted on a website that are stolen from other sources. In all likelihood, there isn't a dog! For a breeder to agree to give you for free, a show quality dog, AND to agree to pay $100 toward the shipping fee, so that you are only paying $90 in total, is absolutely not the way a quality breeder operates. They would insist you pay for the dog & the shipping and wouldn't even get into further discussion or negotiation with you. This person is trying to get you to send them any amount of money they can talk you into sending, and once you do that, that will be the last you hear from them. Please save your money. If you want a show quality dog, please visit the link labman has provided. They list all the AKC approved breeders for every breed. Contact a few on the list. They will tell you the same thing we are all telling you.

Also you have to question why you would want to put a puppy through all the major trauma of travelling in a crate for so long alone, poor thing, there are plenty of puppies over here that need rehoming and if you can't afford to pay for one you probably can't afford to raise it either.

jaynav brings up a good point. I don't keep real good records, but I think I spend around $500 on each puppy for food and vet care, and that doesn't include spay/neuter.

Buying a puppy in your area isn't always best... sometimes you will have to get one from the other side of the country to get your ideal dog :)
