When starting the car it makes a humming whining noise kind of grinding noise. It reminds me of a RC car and the noise that it makes. The car runs fine, doesn't overheat, doesn't cut off, the more I press on the accelerator and faster I go the whinier it gets when I press in on the clutch it dies down while I have the clutch pushed in. I have been told that it sounds like the pully system for the alternator is going, I have been told that the alternator belt was put on to tight and needs to be loosened. I would just like to know what it is so I can get it fixed. And just today it sounded like also my muffler is going bad as well. I need help. No wonder it was a free car!

The alternator bearings may be bad.
