I'm in New Jersey and plan to represent myself in a motion to increase visitation to allow for a midweek overnight. I'm completing the forms to do this myself and it asks if I would want a oral argument or non-oral argument in front of the judge. I would preferably want a non-oral as I think my documentation and facts speak for themselves. My concern (not being an attorney) is does it look bad either way when choosing non-oral or oral arguments?

Any fathers gone through this??

Dude, trust me on this... get everything in writing. But most of all... GET a lawyer. Judges HATE to deal with someone that has to be walked through what is expected. You will fare much better. Even if you hire one just for the few hours of court time, and do the paperwork yourself... you will come out better.

This is a Sept 2007 thread. Don't know if the question is still valid - probably not.
