You have to be kidding! You really think we are going to help you get rid of or get around controls imposed by your parental units?

Get real!

I have the same thing on my computer at home.

Even if I were unethical and immoral enough to tell you how to defeat the program, I couldn't do so without knowing her username and password for that program.

But even if I knew, I wouldn't say, since it's there for your discipline and protection.

And, there is also a very good likelihood that your mom knows where you have been on the computer as well as the Internet.

I am sure that one of the things your mom is concerned about is who you might meet up with on the Internet.

I am glad that you mother cares about you enough to put that kind of program on the computer. Be thankful. Not all parents are that caring about their children. We have some kids who are on this site way past a logical and reasonable time when they should have been in bed in order to get up for school the next morning. Their parents obviously don't have as much concern for them as your mother does for you.

If you really want to blow Mom's mind next time she checks the computer, don't use the computer for several days, unless it is needed for school work.

Imagine her dismay and the confused look on her face when she learns you been reading books, mowing the lawn, cleaning your room, helping with the household chores, playing outside getting exercise, and only using the puter for useful purposes like homework.

Imagine the day she can actually begin trusting you to do the right thing.

Don't look at the monitoring program in a bad way, your mum cares enough to put it on, anyway I trust you wouldn't go on any innapropriate sites.

This is why your mother put the program on the computer in the first place.

You may think you don't want your mother to care but think about that for a second. Would you want her to completely not care about you? Not take you to the doctor when you are sick, buy food and cook meals for you, keep a neat house, pay bills or taxes, leave you alone by yourself all the time, her never being there when you need your mom. You only say you don't want her to care because you want to be in some chat room which was probably taking your attention away from school and your reality. Your mom sounds like a pretty awesome mom to me.

I'm sorry to inform you that kids with this type attitude, that invite strangers to their homes that they have met on the internet, are at risk of getting abducted, having terrible things done to their body by some pervert, and usually end up in a ditch somewhere.
Think it won't happen to you?? Better think again, it happens to kids everyday.
Your mother is trying to prevent this from happening to you.
No where on the internet is safe.

Clough is right hun. You should be happy that your mom cares so much.

I know we can get mad at our parents sometimes, but the reason they do things that make us mad is because they love us and don't want anything to happen to us. Her reasoning more than likely isn't what you are doing on the internet, but more about who else is on the internet with you, you know what I mean? We can sometimes give out too much information without realizing it. A person in a chat room can seem friendly and can seem like they have good intentions, but we can never tell through a computer screen. All we can see is the words that are typed. Trust me, chat rooms are not all they are hyped up to be anymore. They are filled with spam and bots that can hurt your computer, and I'm sure you don't want to hurt your computer, you want to get use out of it, right?

This is exactly why your mother has put the block on the computer.
Your way of thinking is not only immature, but it could also endanger you.
I'm sure you won't want to "deal with it yourself" if a sex predator got ahold of you... think about that... because it happens daily.
I know you don't understand your mothers reasoning right now, but you will when you get older.
Just know that the block is in your best interest.

Now, I'm just curious, if you didn't put the troll alert avatar on there, then who did??
You know what that means, right?

Sorry, but you have 5 years to wait. When you are 18 and can support yourself, you can make such decisions. Until then, that's what parents are for, to make these decisions for their children because they are older and wiser and more experienced.

So many teens think they "can handle it" with online chatters. Must be why another teen girl ran away with a 46 yr old man she met online, who turned out to be a registered sex offender.

NO BRE1028 don't get anyone to take the program off, that will just cause arguments in your household when you're mum finds out.
Chatrooms aren't something you should rely on, I'm around you're age and I don't go on chatrooms and don't want to, Its more important to make friends with people who you know and who you can go shopping with, not people you have never seen.

JackI need to go back on the chat room.I want to go back on the chat room.If I was on the chat room I know that everyone from the chat room would be very worried about me because I haven't been there for awhile.I know the people in the chat room care about me.they told me that they were worried about me.when I was on the chat room I didn't give out my address or my phone number so I don't think I have anything to worry about when people on the chat rooms ask me for that information.people have asked me the strangest stuff and I know I have gave the right answers and that I can talk to the mods and monitor and they know what to say and what to tell me.I don't think my email would be something personal and not everyone @ the website have my email.I was in this relationship with this guy on the chat room.I have been in 3 relationships on the chat room.I have this friend on the chat room and he said that online relationships don't always work and that's true.I had a few crushes on some guys but I wasn't with all the guys I liked.when I talked to a few people they told me that I was flirting with guys.I was shocked.I don't know a lot about relationships but I was going to marry the guy who told me he was 17.he asked me if I would marry him and I said yes.and I also talked to his sister and his sister was very happy.I think's didn't work out.I still want to be with the guy.my friend told me to break up with him.it was my friends ex boyfriend.I just hope someone @ the chat room will give him my email so I can still email him.when I was in the chat room he wasn't in the chat room for awhile.I just hope he e-mails me soon.I know I am only 13.and he said he's 17.yeah 13 and 17 r far apart but still I think I was meant to be with him I just have to fix a few things with him.the bad news is that I have a crush on a person @ this website.I feel like I fit in a chat room then @ my school.I feel like I have a life in the chat room.

Now we start to see the true story. You have an obsession about this chat room. At 13 your judgement is already under question, add an obsession to it and its not hard to understand why your mother is using a blocker.

You NEED to get counseling to learn how to deal with your issues. You are living in a fantasy world that is becoming more real to you then reality. And that is a recipe for disaster.

Scottgem hit the nail on the head. Bre1028, you are totally out of control with that chat site. You should be glad your mother still allows you internet access!

My son has a filter and a timer. When he maxes out his time for the day, he finds other things to do. I would suggest the same for you.

Find a club at school or take dance/gymnastics lessons or something that will enrich your life. A chatroom just rots away hours you can never get back.

Boy you sure are a lucky girl!!

I have a 13 year old girl myself. If she were ever in a chat room we would not have any program on our computer, we would not have internet access. PERIOD!!

Look hun, your mom is doing the right thing for you right now. She has your safety in mind.

Have you read this hun?

A thirteen year old Southampton girl and an only child, Michaela Montague, disappeared for five days after visiting an internet café on Valentine's Day.
Michaela's mother, Sasha Bryant, had banned her from using chat rooms at home after becoming concerned about who her daughter was making contact with.

Michaela is refusing as yet to tell police or anyone else what exactly happened to her, saying she was just with a 'friend'. However, it is strongly suspected that she was abducted by a paedophile she 'met' on the internet. Not only was she seen shortly before she disappeared talking to a man in a car near where she lived, but a stranger telephoned the family home while she was missing, apologising profusely.

Ms Bryant, voiced her concerns about the ease with which paedophiles can make direct contact with children via then web, saying, 'My fear is that meeting someone on the internet sparked this off in the first place. There is every possibility she met up with someone she contacted via a chat room. Michaela learned her way round the internet very quickly, like all children her age do. She was very keen on the word wide web and when we first got a computer at home she was always logging on. Then she discovered chat rooms. I warned her about the dangers of them because you just do not know who you are talking to. People can pretend to be anything they seem when you cannot see them.'

I had a friend abducted when I was in high school, before the internet as it is now... She was never found, that was more than 25 years ago.

How do you know who these people are that you talk to on the chat room? You don't. I could easily sign up here under another name, with another pic, and be your friend.

There are people out there, in chat rooms, that can easily pinpoint your address through your IP address, you don't even have to tell them.

You know how I know that? Because I have done it. We had a member here who was very depressed and suicidal, I got a little info out of him, very little actually just his last name, and was able to locate him, his address and his phone number.

You are playing a very dangerous game. One that could kill you if you continue on this path.

Again, you are lucky you still have internet access.
