I want to use 2 courses of brick along the perimeter of my planter area. About 60 linear feet.BUT... what I am looking for in a brick( or artificial paving stone) doesn't seem to exist.

I'm looking for a brick that is DARK gray. I have seen light gray pavers out there, but they are almost the same shade as standard cinder block. I have seen a few artificial pavers that were about the right color, but were of a irregular shape, didn't have sharp edges like standard bricks.

What I am looking for can be regular old concrete shapped like a brick, but with the dark gray color.



Am I missing something?

Some times it is tough finding what you need when you want a distinctive look. You may need to get away from the DIY friendly home centers and look for a commercial brick distributor. They may not be thrilled selling to a home owner, but may have what you want.

I've actually have tried 3 different big brick and paver manufacturers in my area, none of which carry what I'm looking for. I think it's a regional thing. I've been in other areas of the country, and have seen gray brick quite often in walkways.

On another site, a guy suggested making molds, and using gray tinted Quickcrete, to form custom bricks. Interesting idea, but I'm going to aneed over 600... ouch.

Try contacting the manufacturer. Some of them are willing to sell direct and may also respond to special orders. 600 is not a real small number.

Get a dark paving stone, and turn it over. The bottom is sharp at the edge.
There are several brick colors, styles and shapes out there. Contact a brick yard in your area and ask them to find the product you want. If its not made, I would not try to make it myself. Its too much work and you would be better off just using a dark unsanded grout and experiment trying to slightly alter the appearance of available materials.

We use a Glenn Gery brick and they have browns and gray brick

My question you are looking for paver's but say two courses of brick and paver's aren't used for that. Could you explain more and how you are going to lay 2 courses?

Just on a side note a cube of brick is 500 pieces
