Hi everyone! I have no children and it will be a little while before we try for one. My husband and I were thinking about being pregnant by the end of next year, maybe around September or October. I have been on the same birth control (ortho novum 777) consistently for almost 4 years. I'm thinking about switching birth control, maybe to a lower dose pill, because I've had problems with spotting between periods for quite some time now. Thing is, I'm nervous to switch because I'm not sure if that will up my chances of becoming accidentally pregnant when we're not ready. Anyone with some input? Am I just being paranoid or is this a legit worry I'm having? Should I just deal with the spotting for yet another year until we're ready for kids?

Low-dose doesn't mean less protection. A low-dose birth control will protect you the same as a "regular" pill.

IF you are going to switch try yasmin I was on it for a while and no spotting or side effects, It is the best birthcontrol I know of and is supposed to have no side effects what so ever. I tried other birth controls but this one was my favorite because of the no side effects.

I have had to change birth control many times and was sexually active and didn't get pregnant. The yaz or yazmin is a good one. Hoped I helped

A bit of added info... most doctor will tell you, when switching birth controls use an alternate form of protection (like a condom) for 2 weeks.
