How to cut lead pipes?
Lead pipe cuts very easily with a reciprocating saw (or a hack saw) with a coarse blade (8-10 tpi). If the teeth are too fine, the blade loads up.

I think it is 14 that the hardware store sells me for heavy metal poles and they do not last very long. It seems that is just the way they are.
Buying them in bulk is good too because I got tired of having to leave what I was cutting to go find the closest place that sells them and ending up having to pay $6.00 per blade. But the reciprocating saw is the best way to go.

Lead is so soft I can't imagine blade life being a problem unless you are doing a lot of it. In that case, lead is toxic and you need to be thinking about avoiding inhaling the dust. OSHA and the EPA could be interested. If you are just whacking off a few as part of a renovation or something, don't worry about it.
On small pipes, large bolt cutters or even an ax might do.
