I married my Tunisian boyfriend in Tunisia in June this year. He then obtained a visa and came to the UK on 10th August. I now know that I have made a mistake and cannot be married to him. He left me to go and stay with his cousin in Kent on 7th September and he will not be coming back to live with me. He was only meant to be coming for a holiday on the first visit but of his own volition decided it was permemant. I now need to start legal proceedings at least for a separation agreement as I have been told a divorce is not possible within the first year of marriage. Can I obtain a divorce in Tunisia immediately without his consent? Are my assets safe, (a pre-nuptial agreement was signed) and in the event of my death how do I guarantee my children will receive my estate? Any help and advice will be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked to see if you qualify for an annulment based on fraud? Sounds like he only married you to get here. I would check with an attorney and see if that is possible. Maybe someone more qualified than I will see your post and offer some more advice. Good luck.
