Bullies - children or adults. I think adults more so than the children. I can see them as a child, being the classroom and playground terrorist. They have not developed beyond that and teach their children to act the same way.

I'm with you Star. Today everyone I was driving behind was acting as if it was their first day out on the road.
I also cannot stand people who have no sense of a world outside of themselves. Like today when I went to the post office there was a line out the door and only two people working. One lady monopolized one cashier for a good 10 minutes asking her what everything was in the post office. She was asking her to explain how the postage worked and she was totally confused how insurance worked and couldn't figure out how to fill out the TO and FROM fields on one of those priority mail boxes. Guess it was her first time at a post office?
Gee I dealt with a lot of annoying people today.
I was actually reading on article earlier this week (if I can find it I'll post it) about how modern technology is making us less tolerant of annoyances in our day to day life. That before we had all the modern luxuries we have like internet, cell phones etc that we had no choice but to interact with people on a day to day basis. Which meant going to the grocery store with the crazies around the holidays. Beating crowds while holiday shopping. Or just generally dealing with the day to day irritants are no exacerbated because we can choose if we want to do never deal with people.

If it is anything but sunny here in Jacksonville, they all act like it's their first day on the road here too. When its sunny, then they are just pushy and rude drivers.

Another thing that bothers me is when my college professors speak horrible English. My English professor says stuff like "there's too many" instead of "there are too many," "exetra" instead of "etcetera(etc.)" She also says "got" instead of have and even the papers she gives us are full of horrible English errors.
Also, the same college won't hire my mom fulltime because she is almost a doctor of English and they would have to pay her too much. Instead, they hire idiots who have no idea how to teach so they don't have to pay as much. Good for a place that credits itself as being "The best choice for empowering students, building communities, and changing lives."

I am sometimes annoyed by all the attention paid to obnoxious people. Quite a bit of the time, it's attention that they crave, so by giving it to them, we just encourage their obnoxious behavior. Unless they're really doing it to us personally, it's usually better to ignore them.

I work in a museum and today I was giving a guy a tour and we were talking. Every time we came upon something involving a different ethnicity, he said something like "Hey, it's one of those Nip swords." I thought maybe it was just because he was older and his terminology didn't evolve, but near the end of the tour he called Native Americans a bunch of bastards and said "We shoulda killed em' all back in the 1800's." It really annoys me that this kind of attitude exists today. He was wishing for the genocide of an ethnicity he knew nothing about.

OK, so here I go...
This really annoys me.
I make dinner for my family,
I serve everyone and by the time I finish making my plate,
Everyone has already gobbled up their food and I'm left sitting there by myself at the dinner table.
OR
I'm cooking something that requires a few being cooked at a time,
As I'm cooking little hands and big hands keep picking at the food,
Well, what do you know, when dinner is ready, everyone's full...
OR
I try preparing a healthy dinner,
Followed the recipe to a tee,
Spent a lot of time trying to make it tasty BUT, no one wants to eat that "nasty" stuff they say...
Then at 9 o'clock at night when I'm trying to get the kids to bed,
All I hear is "I'm hungry"... over and over again until I make them something to eat...
OK, I'm done... LOL

Kae, I think every mother in the U.S. goes through what you do. You should try sitting and watching T.V. when it's supposed to be dinner time. Your kids will say "Mooooom, aren't you making dinner?" And you can say " You want ME to make dinner? Are you sure? I can't even make the stuff you like." They should start begging you to make them dinner after that, saying "Yes you can, come on mom!" They'll realize what a nice favor you're doing for them every night and stop thinking it's just your job.
(When they grab for food, give them the eye of the tiger and mutter "Dinner.....Is not......Ready." Develop a technique that scares them):)

Kae--
I was a bachelor for ten years, and though I didn't learn to cook much (I ate out a lot and what cooking I did was very spartan), I certainly did learn to appreciate it, and say so, when somebody cooks for me. My wife loves that about me, but she does get tired of cooking and I don't blame her. Some nights she makes herself a bowl of popcorn and I eat whatever I can scrounge. I figure she deserves a night off whenever she wants one. We live 25 miles from town so we don't eat out much.

Hang in there. Even if it doesn't happen every day, if you can pull it off even two or three days a week it will be worthwhile. Our kids are both out of the house now, and it seems like it all happened so fast. Don't let them slip away without finding out who they are. May I join in and say... oh boy... I didn't know so many things annoy me! I didn't have the energy to read all of the posts, because quite frankly, I was giving myself a headache agreeing with so many! ;)
I'll go with might possibly, but not exclusively, may be my top three!
Abusers, cheaters, liars, and the people that make excuses for their actions, or the actions of others, and blame it on the abused person.
People who buy their pets as an accessory, or an ego boost, and don't have a clue how to care for them... oh, and breeders, and puppy mills, when there are so many homeless pets. I should stop there, before I get carried away. ;)
Young kids who strive to be like Paris, Brittney, Lindsay... and end up with so many self-esteem, and other mental and physical issues.
I said only 3 right? I'll stop now, before my head explodes! ;)

... horrible English errors.
The lack of proper usage and grammar is also one of my 'pet peeves.' I know I split infinitives and dangle participles... but I get so tired of hearing folks say 'bring' when they mean 'take' (you bring something from there to here, you take something from here to there); say 'gone' when they mean 'went' - or even 'came' (and visa versa). Maybe that's what's going wrong these days: nobody knows if they're coming or going...

I agree some posts are hard to read, but what comes to my mind is that as this site is used worldwide,we must remember that not everyone's first language is English and that sort of helps take the focus off the wrong terms used.
I am sure many are like me,who actually speak and use a different language at home and English is only a second or third language.:)

I agree Firmy. It's the ones that use text speak, with no punctuation or paragraphs/spaces, that drive me nuts though.

Ditto!
Text speak is for the cell phone, not email and certainly not message boards and this site. I find that annoying.

I'm not talking about those for whom Eng is a 2nd lang, I'm talking about the instances of atrocious grammar in common use. Not just by those one talks to every day but how the incorrect usages are spread in the media - most egregiously in newspapers, where there are supposed to be editors. It makes one think that grammar class has somehow become an elective, even in grade school.

I know what you mean, and I agree. The grammar young people use is atrocious. Don't they teach it in school anymore?
I don't understand why people think it is appropriate to text rather than spell a word out when not sending a text message.
Etiquette has just gone out the window, which is probably my biggest peeve; Ruddiness
