I want to move a bank of two light switches from inside of a cabinet to the outside of the cabinet, so that the cabinet door does not have to be opened to access the switches.

I can do this easily by extending the wires through conduit from the existing switch box to a new switch box.

The problem is that there are five 3-wire cables that feed into this switch box. One of the switches is a double switch. MOst of the wires from these cables are connected together in groups of five, with only five wires that actually attach to the switches.

Question? Do I have to extend all 5 of the cables out to the new switch location, or can I just extend the wires that attach to the switches? This would mean running only five wires instead of five cables out to the new switch location. Also, what about grounding?

You can run just the 5 wires for the switches, plus a ground. You may want to blank off old switch location, but don't cover permanently, Leave access.

Excellent, that make the job a lot easier.
