Earlier in the season I was having a problem with my riding mower, when I turned the engine off when it was hot it would not start again until the engine cooled off. When I say wouldn't start, when I turned the key - nothing no cranking or any noise at all.

Then it reach the point where it would start one a day and if I tried to start it a second time it wouldn't start even when it cooled off. Again, when I say wouldn't start I turned the key - zippo no cranking or any noise at all.

Last Saturday when the engine was cold it gave 2 anemic turns which didn’t start the engine and then when I turn the key - nada no cranking or any noise at all.

I replaced the battery and when I turn the key - still zilch no cranking or any noise at all. I can't get anyone to come to the house to look at it and the grass keeps on a growing. Any suggestions other than the 10 lb sledge hammer? ~ Frank

Sounds as though your battery is about shot. When the battery sets for a while, the acid reenergizes so to speak, and gives you a shot at starting. If it doesn't start then it is over with until it sets for awhile. Remove the battery and carry it to have it tested. If the battery is over one year old, it may be too weak. Some batteries last for quite sometime, and others do not. Purchase a battery with at least 300cca.
