View Full Version : I'm going crazy! Can't find answers anywhere.pregnancy after period?

I am soooooo stressed

Me and my girlfriend had unprotected sex using the withdrawal method (what was I thinking?) exactly 1 week and a half later she started her period but she said it was different. It started spotted brown, but then went heavy brown and the period ended normal with cramps and all. We took a pregnancy test just to make sure and it came back negative..

I thought it was all over until my now ex-girlfriend informed me she was late on her period so we took another pregnancy test (7 weeks/49 days) after unprotected sex and it came back negative as well. I can't let this go because I'm freaking out about it. I can't take this day by day approach to wait for her period to start. It's been 40 days since her last weird period. She claims she feels normal and has no sore breasts or other pregnancy signs. She also is claiming to have cramps and PMS whatever that means...

I am dying, I can't eat, I can't sleep. When is she going to start her period if she is ever! She gets mad at me for bringing it up saying she had a period and two negative pregnancy test. I feel deep down inside that she might be...

Any ideas? What was with the brown period? Should a negative pregnancy test at 7 weeks after sex be enough? I'm a guy and have no idea what's going on... :(

Please help!

Okay hun calm down.

The brown color you are describing is just old blood. Old blood can be brown.

If she got her period a week and a half after having sex, I would say she is probably not pregnant, but remember anything is possible.

The late period she could be having now could just be irregularity. If she is stressing out about thinking she may be pregnant, it can delay her period.

Sounds like she had a normal period, that simply started a little different then she is use to. A woman's cycle is rarely constant,as far as timing, length, and flow. This can be effected by several different things, such as medication and/or birth control methods,STRESS, (thats a big one there) illness, change in diet/ lifestyle/ etc. Its not uncommon to be late or even completely miss a cycle now and then, for no apparent reason at all. I think if you let the drama of it all settle down a bit, her period will return soon. If not, if she misses a second period, and the test is still negative, its time to visit a doctor.

Its OK man this happened to me one time. Im not trying to talk bad about your ex girlfriend but she is probably lying to you because she is most likely jelous of the new girlfriend.

I am not sure but I think 7 weeks is long enough to find out. If the ex is on birth control (usually the shot) then she won't have a regular period. I know this because my ex said the same thing. But if you really want to find the truth go to what ever clinic you have where you live like Planned Parenthood and they do pregnancy test there for free and they are the lab test so they are like 90% accurate.

Well I hope I helped you out a little.

Ok, update...

My old girlfriend freaked out about the idea of getting a blood test done at planned parenthood, so we went out and bought the most sensitive urine tests we could fine.

We took one at afternoon (NEGATIVE) and had her take the other in the morning when the hormones are higher (NEGATIVE as well)

It has been 10 weeks since we had unprotected sex and we have taken a total of 4 pregnancy test that ALL came out negative (I can't afford to buy more)

She is having no symptons (morning sickness, tender breasts, etc) but is saying she is having mild cramps throughout the week.

Period is still late, and I am still pissed. I have calmed down a ton and have just accepted the fact that whatever happens... happens. I just want some closure..

Thanks for all your advice, it has helped me a lot

If she is pregnant, you'll find out sooner or later. I wouldn't be at all surprised if its just the stress that's causes her period to be late. However, no matter the reason, 10 weeks is DEFINITELY long enough that she needs to see her doctor. End of story. She may be pregnant, or she may not, but either way, she needs to see her doctor. If she is pregnant, she needs proper pre-natal care, and to get on vitamins etc. If she isn't pregnant, she needs to find out what is causing the delay of her menstruation. Not going to the doctor could be putting her health in jeapordy.

I have taken 2 hpt and they both came out negative. Here lately I have been peeing more frequently and if I was pregnant I would be 6 to 8 weeks along. Could I be pregnant?

Have you missed a period? It's possible that you are pregnant and the tests just didn't pick it up yet. Sometimes periods can just be off as well.
Wait and see what happens when you expect your next period. If no period at that time, try another test. Be sure to follow the directions carefully. If you get a negative result, and still feel pregnancy is possible, see your doctor. They will do another urine test in office and possibly a blood test.
