I have been trying for months to find out the name of this song and who sings it... it must be an early to mid 70's song by a group possibly... the lyrics go something like this:

That is the best I can do with the lyrics... it is a smooth, groving song... help!!

If you could remember a little more that would be helpful. Is it a soulful song or whiney white boy song?

It's a whiney white boy song but I didn't want to post it that way... I can't remember much more of the words but it seems that every time I hear it, it stays in my head and it's driving me nuts... the other day I was at a department store and they were playing an acuostic version of it... aaargghh! I've tried calling my local radio station when they play it but have never been able to get through to ask the disc jockey what the name is or who sings it.

The singers remind me of Steely Dan or maybe even a smooth Three Dog Night somewhere around there... not as good as either of those two bands but somewhere white like that... they may have even been a one hit wonder like King Harvest... come to think of it they sound more like King Harvest than Steely Dan.

Oh my goodness!! That's the one... I feel like Al Bundy when he had a song in his head and he finally got the name of it... he did a happy dance... I don't personally care for Todd Rundgren either but this song was driving me nuts cause it stuck in my head every time I heard it... THANK YOU... you don't go by BadPenny for nothing... you are bad... Great Job... now I can get this darn song out of my head.
