Hi everyone.

I've had this problem for a few days now, but I wasn't really bothered enough to fix it because I don't know enough about it. Anyway, here's my problem:

When in My Computer, in Devices with removable storage I can only see the floppy disk driver. I can insert cds and the device itself seems to be working properly, it opens, closes, lights flash etc. But nothing happens. Even if I try to type D: in the address bar, I get the unrecognizable device problem.

Now the tricky part: When I enter the Winxp cd inside, whilst booting it goes into the autorun of the cd and asks me to repair or format or whatever.

Any ideas? If I haven't provided enough info ask me and I will.

My system is Winxp home, 512ram, the drive is a dvd reader of sorts, came with the PC when I bought it.

Thanks in Advance.

You said that booting to the XP Cd offers the option of a Repair or Format. Choose Repair.

Yes but what do I do when I'm in the repair console? There are so many things to do in there and I'm not that knowledgeable about these things.. help please? :(
