My son and his ex have joint custody of their 5 year old daughter. His ex was in a drug bust last night and arrested on 3 charges: child endangerment, possession and making the drug and distributing. She had been in the Meth house for two days with the child. My son lives in Ga and has gone to Texas to get his daughter. His ex's parents have threatened him several times about "taking their grandchild away". He has arranged for a police escort to go with him to pick her up. Can anyone think of hidden obstacles that might pop up? Does his wife lose her parental rights in prison? What chance does my son have at getting full custody? Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks

He may be able to get full custody due to the child endangerment, esp if she is found guilty of that, but no she does not lose any rights automatically, she has to file to get more rights.

And good luck on that police escort, TX police esp the ones in Odessa TX were the worst I ever saw about helping with any custody issues, in fact they refused to honor the court order of any state outside of TX.

So I hope they will really go with him and do something when he gets there. Let us know.
