I'm wanting to run electric from garage to shed. Want to have an outlet always hot and a light controlled by a switch. How do I do this? Any help and diagram appreciated.

This should be fairly simple. Buy a square box, a outlet and a switch. Run the feed directly to the outlet, connecting black to brass, white to nickel plated, and bare to green. Run a black wire from the outlet to one terminal of the switch, and connect the black wire that runs to the light to the other. Connect the white wire to the light to the second plated screw on the outlet and the bare wire to the green screw. Connect the green screw on the switch to the bare wires too.

Labman & Rickj- Thanks for your help. Hopefully this diagrahm will be sent also. If it came through see if this is right. Running power to switch, blackto switch-blk outgoing to brass on lite-both white tied together. Blk from incoming power at switch to brass on recepticale and white to whites at switch box to silver screw at recpt. Then recpt. Will always be hot and lite will be controlled by switch, Right? ;)

P.S. how do you attach file? Don't think I did mine right

''blk from incoming power at switch to brass on recepticale '' will work well as ''Run the feed directly to the outlet, connecting black to brass, white to nickel plated, and bare to green. Run a black wire from the outlet to one terminal of the switch'' that I said. You can't attach files here, just supply a URL, http://www.photolocker.net/images/Labman/KatetheAC.jpg, or sometimes this works.
