Hi... I hope that you & your unborn baby are OK... Am so happy for you... Well, I read once that you won't be able to know the baby's sex till the fifth month which means you still have to wait for a month...

P.S: Avoid doing ultrasound many times during your pregnancy,a s I heard that it might hurt the baby.

Take care.

I had an ultrasound at 13 weeks and we are pretty sure it's a girl...

Doctors usually set up an ultrasound right around the time you would be able to tell the sex... they usually do it for that reason, that way they can check the baby's growth AND you can find out the sex if you choose too. That way they can get all things done during one ultrasound. This is usually done at about 5 months.

However... we went and sat for almost 30 minutes trying to find out the sex. My daughter kept her knees bent, and legs crossed and wouldn't move no matter how hard we tried! So we weren't able to determine the sex at that time... and unless it is medically necessary they won't do an ultrasound only to determine the sex... so good luck! :)

Most people find out at 20 weeks, though it is possible to find out as early as 14 weeks (or so I've heard). The earlier you find out, the less "positive" your doctor will be about it. Twenty weeks up to around 30 weeks is most prime time. Much after 30 the baby doesn't have as much room to move around and it can make it very difficult to get a good shot. If this is your only u/s you may or may not get to find out the sex. Hope your u/s goes great!

Thanks peeps :) All my family think it's a girl, I personally think it's a boy because my pregnancy is exactly the same as with my 2 boys. I just (for a laugh) went on a few chinese prediction sites (3 to be exact) and on every one it predicted a girl.. so now I am hoping they can see at my u/s tomorrow. I don't mind what I have but already having 2 sons, a girl would be fantastic! :D Will let you all know tomorrow ( if I find out)
Take care xx

I wouldn't doubt those chinese predictors, they said I was having a boy with my son which I did it said I was having a girl with my daughter which again I did and this time it says a girl and at my ultrasound at 13 weeks it looks like a girl.
But we'll find out for sure on the 14th.

Genitals are formed at 14 weeks, but sometimes the boys are a little late on "popping" out and are mistaken for girls... this is why they like to wait until the 18-20 week mark. I think you will most likely be able to see the sex, if the baby is cooperative, my first son was not, and despite 2 u/s, we never knew what he was until his birth.

With both my pregnancies, the chinese thing said girl... im expecting my second son... lol

Update for you, I went for my u/s but finding out the sex was not to be.. I have the wriggliest baby in the world, one min its on its head, then its back and doing somersaults etc... hope its not as active when it makes an appearance, won't be able to keep up! Have another u/s on 28th sept, so will let you know then if we have any joy :)

Usually it takes a level 2 ultrasound to tell the sex of the baby. Even then there are no guarantees that you'll be able to tell. Since these are more costly your ob-gyn will only order one if there are certain risk factors in your pregnancy that justify it. When my wife was pregnant with my now 8-year-old daughter she was gestational diabetic. For that reason, her ob-gyn ordered a level 2 ultrasound. From that we were able to tell that we were having a girl. Of course, you can always determine the sex from a genetic analysis. Chromosome pair #23 tells it all ; XX means a girl and XY means a boy. I don't know the risk factors or the costs associated with this so I don't know under what conditions a doctor would typically order this.
