Hi,

I am married since 1.5 years and then we decided to plan for a baby and we tried for 1 month but nothing happened so we consulted a doctor who told that I have irregular periods and I should be treated for this if I want to plan for a baby. So we started treatment for this and she gave tablet fertile and Menageast ( progestreon tablets ) along with folic acid and also she gave some ovulation injections on 15th day after all this I am pregenet after this she continued progestreaon 200 mg twice a day for 1-2 months with folic acid + Iron( 2 times a day ). Later on 2nd month she confirmend twins and after 3rd month got over she gave stiches in uterus for avoiding premature pragency. Now I am 16 weeks pregenent and having following medicines:-

Folic acid + Iron ( tablet Anofer ) - twice daily
Calcium CCM ( 250 mg )- twice daily
And our doctor told us not to travel at all for full nine months whereas we wanted to have delivery done in our home town ( 2000 km away ) going by train.

So please tell me
1)if our treatment is correct
2)Can we travel
3) Do we need to continue progesterone for another two month ( as told by some another doctor she also told this tablet was not necessary in the starting itself but know I should take this for two more months )
4)Am I taking two much Anofer tablet ( Folic + Iron )
5)Was stitches required ( because another doctor whom we consulted just now told it was not necessary )

I am very sorry for such a big question but Please help me because we are very far from our hometown and don't know what to do.

Thanks in advance,
Annie.

I don't know, but personally it sounds like this doctor went overboard with treating... but it got you pregnant though.

I have irregular periods as well and my doctor treated me with Prometrium (progestrone) and prenatal vitamins... that was it.

You should be taking the folic acid and iron, as many women are prescribed this to take throughout their pregnancy (as I was)... although I don't know why your doctor is having you take the pill twice a day. Most women are to take it only once a day. I had blood tests done during my pregnancy and showed that my iron level was too low so that is they only reason my doctor increase my does to twice a day (but carrying twins may have something to do with it)... the calcium and any other vitamins you need should be covered by simply taking a prenatal vitamin once a day.

Unless your doctor considered your pregnancy "high risk" which I don't see why you shouldn't be able to travel OR why she stitched you. Unless there are underlying medical conditions you have, none of those things should have been done, that I know of.

I hope that helps some :)
