View Full Version : How Likely?

I realize that there are many questions on here concerning the question "am I pregnant?" but here I go.

So at the end of July I had sex for the first time. My boyfriend took off the condom at one point and I didn't know until afterwards (totally not acceptable I know it hasn't happened since I can tell you that). He pulled out before he ejaculated. Obviously this is not a very reliable way to prevent pregnancy. I then took Plan B a couple of days later. It was within the recommended 72 hours. A week later I experienced spotting which passed.

I was due to start my period today and it hasn't started yet (it is rarely on time). I figure stressing about being pregnant will not make it come any faster.

Oh I forgot to mention when I had sex for the first time it was a day after I had finished my period so at the very beginning of a new cycle.

So my question is how likely is it that I am pregnant? I just need some reassurance so I can stop stressing about it. It's a little early for a HPT but I may resort to that by next week if I still haven't had my period.

Thanks in advance !

If you took Plan B you should be fine.

Stress and things like that can cause problems in your cycle. At 28 my cycle is not normal nor can I rely on it to start when it should or end when it should.

Plan B is 89-95% effective after a single episode of unprotected sex (Source : http://healthcenter.uoregon.edu/patientinfo/contraception_emergency.html).

It does contain a high dose of hormones which can throw your cycle off a little.

HPT's should typically be taken 2-3 weeks after a missed period, using your first morning urine. So if you do not get your period within the next 2-3 weeks, I would say take an HPT.

As Glinda said, there are a number of things that can cause a late period, such as stress and diet.

See that is what I have been thinking and it is nice to have it reaffirmed. It's seriously all I could think about today. In May I skipped my period entirely (being a virgin at that point it didn't worry me). I just hope my body doesn't decide to do that again it would be really bad timing. I just need to stop stressing so thanks for easing my mind!
