Am installing a 40,000 BTU gas fireplace. One plumber said I need the line to go from the meter (80 ft) for $2850. Another said I can go from the main gas feed for $725 (40 ft to fireplace). Other gas appliances within 10 ft of main feed is furnace, gas dryer, gas range & hot water heater. House is 2000 sq ft ranch (not big). Can I get away with 3/4 in pipe from main feed? I want enough gas for the fire. Who do I believe? $2000 is a big difference. Thanks

If the existing line extending from the meter is only 3/4", then you do need to run a new line that parallels the existing line.
