Hi;
I have 42" deck AYP riding mower. Today it started jerking when putting it in gear and not wanting to go forward unless I hold the brake slightly depressed. I took the back plate off and noticed that the drive pulley was real wobbbly. Is this cause by a bad bearing or shim and is it repairable without buying a new transmission :eek: ?

Well, first off, how wobbly, spin top about to stop spinning wobbly, or slightly very little wobbly? Is it a transaxle? Should be a tecumseh peerless. Good trans... there should be a shim there, but also make sure the pulley itself is on good, that and everything is adjusted right. You can take the trans out, but it'll be a and a half to remove, they are pretty hard and heavy to get out by one person, then you can have a shop take a look at it if its bent, pulley's bent, etc, it may can be fixed, if not, don't go to sears for the trans, cheaper to go to a shop. Also if its under warranty, have sears worry about it.
