Has the mother gone to court for support/custody issues? The court will determine what support needs to be paid. Geographic area, income and other factors all go into determining support.

Maybe minimal... it varies from state to state/$25-50 a week/

I know here, when the father is unemployed the courts figure it up on what would be made if the parent were making minimum wage and working a 40 hour work week. Just happened with my friend.

Yes each state has a formula for determining child support. Each state also normally has a mim allowed amount. Some states also view the custodial parents income.
