I have a split central unit. Two days in a row, I've come home from work to find that the fan has stopped running on the outside unit. I push the reset button and it works fine after that.
I'm diligent about changing the filter on the return air inside the house. The unit inside is not frozen. The ground outside is wet where the drain pipe drains.
Is this a sign of more serious things to come?

This reset button, is it in the outside unit ? If so you need to take a water hose and wash the outdoor coil, this switch goes off on high pressure due to a bad fan motor or dirty condenser coil. Hope this is helpful, Mike

Yes, the reset button is outside. Could there be a high pressure situation due to the temperatures being 104-108? And thank you, I'll wash the coil!

I was assuming the switch was in the outside unit and not a breaker but it does not make much difference, washing the condenser coil is very important in hotter weather and washing the coil is something that should be done every year, mike
