I am wanting to install a dishwasher into my kitchen, but I came across a vent pipe coming off my sink. I believe it is a vent because I had already located the water lines. Do I need to have this vent to use my sink properly?

Yes, unfortunately. I'm not really what to do now. It's just too bad that people in the 50's didn't think about installing dishwashers. Oh well... thanks.
