Nicrome wire can be used, here is example:
Model Rocket Igniter Wire 30' 36 AWG Nichrome C - (item 230159797142 end time Aug-14-07 13:18:33 PDT) (http://cgi.ebay.com/Model-Rocket-Igniter-Wire-30-36-AWG-Nichrome-C_W0QQitemZ230159797142QQihZ013QQcategoryZ2567QQss PageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

You know this for a fact, because I have 2 C6-7s, and a B6-4,so will this work because I was wondering how I would get it to stay in the engine so it would ignite

I always have used store bought igniters. Nicrome wire, I have used for cutting styrofoam,
See no reason it wouldn't work.
If securing a problem, I would take a piece long enough to fold in half, and be able to reach the ground, to provide support and contact.

How does it work, when I send a charge through it,

It glows red hot and ignites engine, may take a second.

Three ways to secure wire in engine (nichrome or Estes ignitors) -
1. After inserting the wire as far as it will go, stick a piece of wadding into the engine nozzle. The wadding, like the wires, will be expelled on engine ignition.
2. Tape (masking or cellophane) the wires in place; bend the exposed wire ends outward and tape them to the end of the engine.
3. The combo of 1 and 2 never fails to ignite the engine when the wire burns.
