What would you do?

Imagine that you got accepted to on-campus housing, you tell it your mother and she gets upset. You get for that private loan cosigned by your father and of course loan is ultimately for you to pay off. But then she goes crazy saying that you'll get in debt and never get out, that you can't leave her, that you go there just to party! And she won't patiently listen to your concerns. Instead she says, because you did that decision by yourself, she will no longer cook, help with any expenses if you ever will need help or help you with anything.

I carefully plan school and expenses with financial aid. And I need to live on campus to get more involved and have better chance for better grades and scholarship.

What would you do? How would u tell to "cut the cord already"?

Ps. Finally I decided to move out!

Your mom will come around. Are you an only child or the youngest by chance? It is hard for mothers to let go. Yes paying college loans will take time however you did what you thought was necessary. Once she sees that you are getting good grades in college and you are not there for partying she will adjust. She might be having the empty nest syndrome. Take care of yourself and prove you are an adult. Sorry to say sometimes the emotional cord never gets cut. My only child is five and I'm already dreading his first day in school.

I have sister, but I am the only going to do undergraduate and the yougest! Oh and we are from Poland. There you do not have to pay for colleges if you go to public, but the higher schools there are on much lower level and the economy is crap.

Oh I see I don't know much of the culture in Poland. I guess time will tell. I wouldn't worry about it much and concentrate on your schooling.

Yes there is. There dominates more interdependency than independency, socialism etc.
