I want to add a bathroom in my basement. I have an iron pipe (vertical) passing from upstairs through the basement floor. Can I cut this and put in a section of pvc pipe and install a back connect toilet? Any suggests? Ideas? Will help

You say that you wish to install a basement bathroom but seem to be happy to settle for a toilet. The toilet's simple but if you wish a lavatory and tub/shower you'll have to open up the floor. A typical bathroom group roughs in like this.
Toilet connects to sewer main or the stack vent. Lavatory connects to toilet drain and runs a vent off the top the stubout tee out the roof or revents back into a dry vent in the attic.. The toilet wet vents through the lavatory vent and the tub/shower connects to the lavatory drain and is wet vented by it. This is a normal rough in and is acceptable both by local and state codes and also The Standard Plumbing Code Book in 90 percent of the country. Check your local codes.to make sure you're not in the excluded 10 percent.] Good luck, Tom

I'm looking to install a bathroom group in my basement that only has a sewer main running along the wall.

Is there a website with detail instructions on how to install everything, including drain lines, vent lines and a pump?

The sewer line will need to be below the toilet/sink/shower so if your line is running along the wall it must be above right? In this situation there is a setup called a saniflow which pumps up the waste water to the line and out. I was unable to find any real useful site with drawings and solid info. I think the plumbers are careful not to give out too much info so they don't go out of business

Originally I was looking at Saniflo systems, but many of the plumbers that I spoke too said the macerating units have problems and the motor needs to be replaced often. One of the plumbers was Saniflo's authorized installed. Not sure if it's true or they just want to do the more expensive job digging the concrete.
