YOU HAVE A LEAK, until you find and repair it you will have this problem , without a leak detector you can look for it with soap bubbles, check with a spray bottle and spray hoses and fittings. Good luck.

You've got a leak no matter what you've been told. It could be anywhere, but the needle valves on the service ports can fool some mechanics. Sometimes, they'll hook ou their guages and look for a leak-down, but forget that the valves are not being tested in this scenario.

You should be able to locate any leak as bad as you describe using soapy water. This is the best way to test the valves in the service ports and it works for any part of the system.

Look for signs of the refridgerant oil collecting at varios points that you can see: check at the front of the car, where air enters the grill (the condenser -looks like a radiator) check at the front of the compressor and anywhere where the A/C hose change from hard pipe to flexible hose. Even if those appear clean and dry, they still may be leaking.

Find a qualified ASE certified shop or dealer. Ask upfront about diag fees and ask about a warranty. Many shops will diag for little or no fee, because they're hoping you'll buy the recommended repair(s).
