I have naturally medium to dark brown hair and a few weeks ago I highlighted it. It left blondish white streaks in my hair. Then, I used a permanent dye and tried to dye it a golden blonde. It ended up red. I didn't mind that so much, but where I had put in the highlights before it was lighter then the rest of it. Now I"m thinking about dying my hair permenantly a light black color, but I"m afraid what the highlights will do under black. And is it okay to dye black over the red hair I have? Any help or suggestions? I don't know much about dying hair

There's no need for you to color your hair black. Try choosing a hair color that is close to your natural color. Since you're hair has red tones in it now, it should be easier for you to go back to medium/dark brown without the unpleasant color.

Other then red black is the hardest color to get out of your hair. If you hate it your only recourse would be to go get your hair professionally stripped. I would take Pretty Lady's suggestions
