I am beyond confused at this point. I had my last cycle about a month or so ago, when I did have my cycle it was on for a day or two, very light. For me that was highly unusual, because my cycle is normally extremely heavy. I also should mention that I am currently taking birth control. My doctor once said that no matter how light the cycle is as long as I shed some blood that I am good to go. But for the past two weeks my breast have been sore as well as gotten larger, and I have a week left before my cycle. Normally when I approach my cycle my breast are sore only a couple of days before my cycle. I took two test so far both have said no. Can someone help me understand what's going? I'm too anxious to wait until my scheduled cycle! What do you think?

It could be pregnancy, but it can also be a strange cycle. We all get them. Unfortunately the symptoms of pregnancy and the effects of PMS mirror each other, so it is very hard to tell. I would wait until either your period is actually missed ( a week or more past) or if you period comes and is still abnormal. Then I would take another test. If you are still concerned, go to your doctor and ask for a blood test.

The only way to know for sure is to wait until you miss a period, if you even do. I know that's not what you wanted to hear, but it's the truth.

Birth control can make your periods highly irregular. That could be the reason for the lighter than normal period. That could also contribute to the sore breasts. We get extra hormones in our body when we are getting ready to start our period. That, mixed with the hormones in the birth control, certainly could make your breasts sore.

There is a chance of pregnancy with sex, protected or not. No birth control is 100% effective. If you miss your period, take an HPT using your first morning urine about a week after the missed period, or go to your doctor and request a quantative blood test. Try and relax and remain calm. Stress can cause your period to be delayed :)
