I have a Kenmore Elite Quiet Pak 4 washer that is less than 2 years old. I have been getting a "DL" problem code in the display area or an "F11" problem code that causes the washer to stop and I am unable to open the washer door and the cycle never completes. Sometimes if I unplug the machine for a few minutes the "DL" code, which I think means "door lock" goes away and I am able to start the wash cycle. However, after it gets going for about 10 minutes or so, the "F11" code comes on and stops everything. Then, I am unable to even open the washer door. I have a repairman coming out in 2 weeks but I thought maybe someone would know something about this problem that could help me out sooner. I currently have a load of wet clothes in the washer that I am unable to get out! If the computer board needs to be replaced, I am considering just purchasing a top load washer instead of repairing this one. Can anyone help me out here? Thanks!

I believe F11 code is "communiation error" That is a failure to communicate. Could be electrical. Check all wiring and connections. Could be in the drive system or could be the motor. Good Luck

I have fixed this problem THREE TIMES. If you take the top and front panels off, there is a code guide taped to the inside of the machine. The DL is a door lock error. I purchased a new door lock from Appliance Parts for $43. Part Number: AP3837611. I think the part is faulty. I have replaced the switch twice and the third switch is also acting up. Only washes sometimes and then gets the dl error.
NOTE: This is a whirlpool part, because Sears doesn't make washers/dryers, they are all Whirlpool.
REMOVING AND REPLACING THE SWITCH:
1. Remove the top-- remove the screws on the back top of the washer and the top slides back and off
2. Remove the bottom from-- remove the right and left screws at the bottom of the bottom front panel and it pulls down and off.
3. Take the front electronic display off-- remove screws from the front left (one inset) and top, then there is a brown plastic tab (inside top right) that you have pry forward with a screwdriver to get the panel to come off.
4. Unscrew the three screws that are on the front of the door lock.
5. Now you can get to the screws that hold on the front panel (with door attached) and be able to pry it forward.
6. Reach in and unhook the long switch from the holder and pull it out to the side. There are three wire harnesses that attach to the switch.
7. Unplug the three wire harnesses and plug into new switch. Do one at a time so you make sure you plug them back on the new switch exactly.
Good luck… you are going to need it… I think there is a bad design somewhere. Either in the switch itself or the electronics sending the signal to the switch that makes it faulty.
Like I said, I am on my third switch and it has started acting bad after only two washes….
Very disappointing. I am going to contact Whirlpool for help.. that ought to be fun, or search the web more for a better solution.
I think pushing this pile of crap off a cliff would be a good solution.

We have one of these and have had several problems over the last 5 years with F11 and, recently, DL errors being reported. In every case it's simply been an issue of wires coming loose from the control module in the back.to solve it I simply open the top of the unit (remove the 3 or 4 screws on the back and slide) and then reseat each connector on the board on the back top of the machine. That always solves it for us. I think it's the juggling if the unit in action that causes this.
For equakeman, perhaps your three-time issue is niot the door lock but simply a Recurring loose connection that's solved each time you reconnect the new part.

Mine will not start. No error code that I can see. There is power to the unit and I can selet they wash style, but no response from the machine when I press and hold the start button. Your help is appreciated.
