About 10-12 years ago, I was given a non compete agreement by my employer in St.Johns NL. At that time the contract stated that if I didn't sign it my employment would be terminated. A short while after I was given another one to sign because the first one was no good. The second one didn't say that we would be terminated if we didn't sign it but the choice was not given too us not to sign. Also we were not given a copy of it and when I questioned a former employee who signed it as well he said we were not allowed to have a copy.3 months ago, I quit my job with this company (courier company) after working there for 15.5 years. For the last 4 years I did work for a company (provincal govt) and just a month ago that company put the work that I did for them for my former employer went out to tender.I had moved on to do carpentery and when I seen the tender in the paper,I placed a bid on it.I was successful in my bid and my former employer came in second with his bid. He has already contacted the owner of the tender (the prov govt) informing them that he was displeased with the fact that I was given the tender while I had a non compete contract with him. I have not heard for him or a lawyer pressing this non compete agreement. Could you please give advise on what I should do , or if he has any legal ground. I never went into this to try to get back at him I just loved doing the work for that customer . Thanks
