Don't know if some of you remember me.. I have done a cold trukey and tried to stay away from this site as part of NC.. have done NC for 6 weeks though admitedlly broke it by seeing pics of my ex on Facebook with lots of girls hanging off him having a blast.. but honestly though it hurt a lot, helped me get a grip too!

Basically we broke up because at beginning of relationship, my ex's best friend kissed me, I stopped him, told my ex and he cut his best friend off as was offended a lot by what he did behind his back. After a year and a half together abroad he felt he could only have a social life by us splitting up since his best friend is so much a big part of his life and because of what happened he couldn't handel seeing us near each other (also he was very unhappy that we were abroad and wanted to move back straight away).

I was very heartboken, he moved back 6 weeks ago and I am moving back home next week and because we are from a small place we will undoubtedly meet socially. In the last 6 weeks I was only in contact once to wish him a happy birthday via text message and that's it.

I want to know what I should do when I bump into my ex and his best friend, (since very likely they will be out together).. do I ignore his best friend, my ex etc... OK part of me wants to punish my ex as I felt he led me on and hurt me big time for being honest (his best friend never owned up and it was instigated purely by him) but also admitteldy would like to show him his reasons were dumb and we could have all found a way to get on... I want to come out looking very cool and in control (admittedly would love for him to regret us breaking up as still care a lot about him)... also how should I act if we are in the same area but different people?. some people have suggested I flirt with other guys and have a blast to make him jealous... but am thinking that will make me look easy or fake?

LOTS OF ADVISE PLEASE... I won't that the first time I meet him it comes out well so that then I can get on with my summer and not have the hesitation of what to do when I see him.

Please keep in mind I want to impress, look like I handle his best friend situation well and if possible make him regret what happened.

Do nothing. Absolutely nothing. A good hi, and then walk away.
That is the honestly the best way to impress and still be respectable. Go ahead just TRY and make him jealous by flirting with guys you don't like. In the end that will make you sad inside and he will know it, and he will lose respect because of doing that and damaging yourself.

Didn't read all of what you wrote, it will be difficult, if you can avoid the situation of meeting or seeing your ex. If this is unavoidable a polite friendly hello is all what is needed. Then simply, walkaway...

I agree with the above; you're better off simply being polite. Be friendly. If you don't want to have an extended conversation with him, that's fine, but don't completely ignore them, either. If you do, you will definitely look like you're still hurt and that won't make you feel better... worse, it may actually boost his ego.
