I am 20 years old, married, with a 1year old and a 7 month old. I have been having symptoms of pregnancy. My breasts have gotten bigger and hurt a little, I have gained a lot of weight all in the belly area, I have discharge, I am tired all the time and hungry all the time. I am also having really bad moodswings and emotional outburtsts. But I haven't missed a period. My last period was only 3 days long and was really heavy and dark. (which is unusual for me) I thought I had felt movement, my mother, husband, and grandmother all felt it too. But I went to a clinic today, I took a blood test and a urine test, but they both came out negative. Of course I was upset, because I don't know what is happening to my body. (Although you would think I would know after having 2 children) I am also afraid it's that disorder that women get when they really want a baby, but I haven't been thinking about pregnancy that much because, I have been so consumed with work, and my kids. So I don't know what to think. I had went to the same clinic when I was pregnant with my first son, and they both said I wasn't pregnant, but 2 weeks later I took a pregnancy test, and it all 3 of them said I was. I guess my question is could I still be pregnant and if so, why didn't it show on the tests, especially since I am feeling movement?

Studies have suggest that having sex when the female is most fertile there is about a 25% chance of pregnancy occurring.. Increase this to 7 days around the date the female is pregnant and those odds increase to 35%. These studies included couples that had no physical condition that would prevent them from conceiving a child. Without more information and possible testing your chances of becoming pregnant would be a guess at best. A missed period can be an indication of pregnancy.

There can be other reasons for a missed or late period. Illness, medication, stress, weight fluctuation, hormones, thyroid, infection, emotional upsets, dieting, excess exercise, are a few things that can cause a missed or late period. Click here for more information.

If you sexual active every time you have the sex you have a chance of getting pregnant. Every female's cycle is different. Most female's fertile days are days 8 through 18 with day one being the first day of your period, while others can be 7 to 21 days. This is because a female's cycle is not completely predictable.

The females body, will go through a set cycle which starts with an egg being released from their ovary. This egg goes down the fallopian tube and into the uterus. This is where it can get fertilized by a sperm with the results being a pregnancy. When you have your period the egg and the uterine lining flushes away through the vagina if the egg was not fertilized. Eggs can easily be released at odd times, due to stress, hormones, illness, etc.

No matter at what point in your cycle you are in sperm can sit in the uterus for 7 days and wait for the next egg.

Women usually ovulates around the middle of their cycle. If a female has a 28 day cycle, ovulation will occur somewhere around the 14th day. The egg is normally able to be fertilized for 24 hours once released from the ovary The male sperm can live up to 7 days after ejaculation, but 3 or 4 days are normal. There is a definite chance pregnancy can occur 5 days before ovulation and 24 hours after ovulation. It is possible for some females to ovulate twice during their cycle.

You can buy a home pregnancy test but sometimes these are not sensitive enough to detect an early pregnancy. The test at the doctors office is more accurate. It is better to get to the doctor and know for sure. Prenatal care is very important if you are pregnant.

A good way for a female to track her cycle is by charting her basal body temperature. Sites like Ovulation Calendar and Ovulation Chart - FertilityFriend.com (http://www.fertilityfriend.com) will help this be done. The results will give the best indication possible on ovulation. Click here for another site.

You will normally be most fertile the two or three days before your temperature rises.

The only 100% sure way to avoid pregnancy is abstinence. Withdrawal before ejaculation is not an effective birth control method.

If I were you, I would get a second opinion.

Yes, get a second opinion especially since this is the same clinic that said you weren't pregnant last time when you really were. Of course if they did a blood test I would think that would be accurate. But in order to be sure and ease your mind get a second opinion.
