I have a miniature dachshund, Liston, whom has a slipped, ruptured disc... We are doing all the traditional treatments... Pain meds, steroids, anti-infammatories, etc... I have been researching and found a lot of information on accupuncture in this situation - has anyone experienced this, had results... Please he's in pain and so am I... :(

My acupuncturists M-I-L is a vet and they work together all the time to perform acupuncture on her patients. From what I hear its really effective just like it is for humans. Good luck.

I attended a holistic seminar for animals, and found these treatments very interesting. There were doctors here that specialized in accupunture and treatment for dogs who suffered chronic pain.I have the veternarian's name so you can contact her.Twila G. Floyd,DVM,CVA-448 Day Lily Street-Auburn,Alabama36832,phone#(334)826-6624 .She told stories of dogs being paralized, and disc problems that she has healed. She has literature she can give you.Let us know how things go.;)

Have you tried talking about this with your vet? I go to a chiropractor, and my mom has seen an acupuncturist, so I am a bit more open about alternative treatments than I was before. Many vets are now taking a more holistic approach, and they may be able to refer you to someone or do it themselves. My thought is that it won't hurt anything to try it, but do keep your vet informed of what's going on so that they can make any other needed adjustments in drug dosage, etc.
