View Full Version : Thread won't wind onto bobbin

I have recently acquired a Singer 2005 Touch Tronic sewing machine. Yesterday, my bobbin ran out of thread so I attempted to fill a new one. At first, all the thread was curling up beneath the bobbin instead of going onto it. Last night I tried again, and now the thread is just getting tangled up in the metal parts beneath the bobbin. Any suggestions as to what might be wrong? Is this something I need to take to a repair shop, or am I doing something wrong that I am unaware of?

I may be wrong cause haven't done this in a long time but I think you have to secure the thread on the bobbin with a good knot, either that or wind it many times tightly by hand then insert it for a new fill.

Just had the same problem with my new to me 20 year old singer imperial. After trying everything I asked my husband to help and he found the bobbin was missing the insertion piece. Try winding with a different bobbin.
