Well I just bought a house my dog had never slept outside before this day he's a 6 month old male pitbull, last Friday we moved into a new house with a very big back yard Saturday my dog stop eating, but started puking clear looked like just spit, today is Tuesday 7/17/07 it's been 10 days since my dog has ate I even tried feeding him table food he didn't eat that but now he looks like a set of sticks with hair so I'm trying to have him gain some weight cause he started eating a little something on yesterday what do you think I should feed him to gain weight back? I feed him puppychow right now but it doesn't look like that had been helping him gain weight anyways:( so what would you suggest:) :) :)

Our member rubypitbull can chime in anytime cause she would have some good input for this.

Don't forget he is a young dog and he has been moved and probably going through growing pains (was he in a crate before) this could be the problem, now he has all that wide open space and room to move around, it is devastating for him, think about it. Just like a kid refusing food after a major upheaval.

Pitbulls are very territorial and he has had a whole new world sprung on him.

My dad always said a dog will eat when its hungry and in all my 65 years of having different breeds, some very young, I understand what he means. My Taffy, a Walker Hound will go off her food but I understand her so completely I am that close to her that it doesn't worry me.

Just play with him, love him up but if it continues for more then a week, I would seek a vet appt.

While it is possible this is in reaction to the move, before I did anything else, I would get him to the vet. If you look at some of the recent threads on dogs not eating, most of them were sick and needed the vet. You also need to read the sticky at https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/dogs/information-articles-our-dogs-expert-labman-53153.html#post254171

Tempting a dog with rich food solves neither a physical problem or an over weight dog. I think 10 days is plenty of time to see if it is going to get better. Call the vet tomorrow.

Perhaps tickle suggested you go another week before calling the vet because she missed that it had already been 10 days. Whatever, it was a very bad suggestion.

AMHD discourages asking and answering questions by PM or email. From a PM:

i see you had some good answers for some ?about dogs well my baby is a 6 month old pitbull i don't know if my dog is sick because we moved into a new house are what but he hasn't ate in about 9 day he only dronk water for the past week but on yesterday he sarted eating a little something i feed him puppychow but can you tell me is that a good brand of dog food i would for him to gain his weight back but i don't know what to do i've been crying for days hoping my dog want die on me i love him like i love my kids,i give him vitamins i tried benifal but he don't like that i'm wanting to try kibbles and bites should i try a small bag to see if he likes it?what would you suggest:) :p

Perhaps I too didn't read your original post well enough. It sounds like you now making him sleep outside by himself. If so, you must move him back inside. Dogs are pack animals. They want to be with you. One of the few cases where a dog actually will harm itself is from a severe emotional upset. A new home seldom would be enough, but being forced to sleep outside by himself might. Crates solve most of the problems of a dog sleeping inside, but I wouldn't introduce one until he eating again. Go back to as close to the old arraignments as possible for now.

I don't think trying one brand of puppy chow after another is the answer. Stick to what you have been feeding. Nutritionally, they are all about the same.
