Shaunta, by latin we mean the language that the Romans spoke many centuries ago. It was still in common use until a few hundred years ago, and shaped, along with ancient Greek, a lot of the languages we see today.

lol OK then back to the subject at hand then if you want to learn latin there are plenty of books out there to help you, 'caicillius est in horto' = 'caicillius is in the kitchen' is all I can remember from my latin, I think that's right

If you are serious about learning Latin and it is not available in your school, you can do the coursework online.

You should check out the "Ecce Romani" books. Those are the books I used to learn. They're very good and they use stories about Roman culture, too.
