My name is Dave . I have accumulated a credit card debut that I am unable to pay due to the fact I lost my job and don`t have anything of value... they are requesting me to appera in court this Wednesday and I was wondering what is the worst they can do to me knowing I have no way of paying for the amount owed... I have every intention of paying the amout owed as soon as I find a job. But that is hard considering my criminal past... as soon as I get a job I am let go... the offense was to have been dropped if I plead guilty to another charge and completed my probation.. . so my question stands what is the worst the can do to me... I can`t even afford a lawyer
thanks : Dave L

PS I live in Indiana

Hello Dave:

They can get a judgment. With that, they'll garnish your wages (whenever you get any), and attach your bank accounts. Plus, they'll add a whole bunch on for court costs and legal fees.

If you have a lot of money, you can solve this problem. If you're so broke so as to be judgment proof, that also will solve your problem.

However, if you have stuff, like a car, or a house, or a job - you're screwed.

IF you're the last guy I described, try to borrow something from somebody and settle with these slugs.

The worst that'll happen is that, when you do start working, your wages will be garnished until the judgement is satisfied.
