Not sure if there is a simple answer to this or if simply my cd/dvd writer has had it, but everything was going all fine and dandy then my dvd burner just stopped working. It will read cds and dvds it will recognize a blank disk been put in, I've always used nero software and sonic software. When attempting to burn a dvd it goes through all the process as normal and then an error flashes up saying 'burning failed at 6x speed' (or what ever speed its at at the time) Not just a once off, I've tried over and over and over but still no luck, I've unistalled and re installed both software again and still won't work. Has it just packed in and I need a new one?! Any help greatly appreciated! Thanks x x x

Have you changed the media you have been using? For example you used to use Verbatim and now you use a cheap unrecognizable brand.

No same sony dvds I've always used, everything I've done and been using etc is the same. Just will not burn. I double checked my disks as it hought it was them, but they burn fine on my other computer, and I'm using same software and disks on that one...

Does it burn CDRs?
I'm thinking the burning laser is defective or has lost some of its power.

No not burning cds either... someone else suggest it could be the laser as well. :(

Well the good news is that they are not expensive anymore, $49 (CDN) will get you a new one.
