View Full Version : Growing out my natural hair color after years of processing?

I’ve been highlighting my hair blonde since I was 20, now I'm 35, and my natural hair color is dirty blonde, not the prettiest color. My hair is starting to break and it has lost its natural shine. I use really good products, but it’s still very dry. I have long hair past my shoulders and I would like to gradually start to grow out my natural color to give my hair a break from all the processing. What would be the best method to do this so my roots won't be so noticeable? Thanks Casey

Dye it with clairol the temporary hair color stuff or go to a salon and ask for their advice on what you should do with your hair

I recommend using temporary colors, such colored hair sprays or mousses if you're trying to grow your hair out. You might want to consider doing a tint-back. A hairstylist can do a tint-back by applying a single process permanent hair color to try and match your natural hair color as close as possible.

If your hair is dry and starting to break, do a deep conditioning treatment at least once a week until your hair looks healthy again.
